WEEKLY GIGS  (always on, except when noted)

Mondays: Brain Cloud at Barbes, 9th Street & 6th Avenue in Brooklyn (Park Slope), 7-9pm; Barbes is a wonderful, intimate listening room venue that has a wide spectrum of live music from both traditional and experimental slants around the world. There is a little room to dance as well. The Brain Cloud is a six-piece band with Dennis Lichtman playing mandolin, fiddle, and clarinet, and leading the band; Raphael McGregor on lap steel guitar; Skip Krevins on hollow-body electric guitar; Kevin Dorn on snare drum; Andrew Hall on upright bass; and myself singing

Fridays: Tamar & Company (duo) at Moto, 399 Broadway at Hooper Street (Brooklyn), 9pm-12amMoto is a restaurant that has live music every night. Though it does not guarantee listening-room volume, the food is quite good and the ambiance is beautiful and unique. {NOTE: I WON’T BE PLAYING MOTO FOR ALL OF APRIL}

Sundays : Tamar & Company (quintet) at Harefield Road, 769 Metropolitan Ave (Brooklyn), 6:30-9:30pm; Harefield Road is one of the most comfortable neighborhood pubs I’ve known around. I’ve been playing there six years, first with the Cangelosi Cards, and now leading a quintet. People regularly come to listen and dance in the back of the pub. We vary the line-up around the community of players I know, including Michael Gomez (guitar), Rob Adkins (bass), Gordon Au (trumpet/cornet), Dennis Lichtman (clarinet, mandolin, fiddle), Rob Hecht (five-string fiddle), Mitchell Yoshida (accordion), Marcus Milius (harmonicas chromatic & diatonic), Jim Fryer (trombone), Ian Riggs (bass), Mickey Freedom Hart (guitar), Matt Musselman (trombone), and so on and so on.
